Featuring 60 ink works with 10 new works to be unveiled, Gao Xingjian EXPERIENCE is the first retrospective exhibition by the Novel Prize Laureate in Asia.

As a writer-painter, Gao Xingjian takes hold of his artistic practice with a freedom that espouses neither any form of attachment nor inhibitions. Referring to the renderings of ink works as another mode of expression to his other literary output, Gao Xingjian emphasizes on the contemplation of the inner vision as the crux of painting.

这不是一个医药讲座。摷菙与撏鼣，除了是一种医学概念，也是文化、社会课题探讨中的重要主题。我们怎样认识自己，认识存在的时空，认识我们的过去与未来，是建构在摷菙与撏鼣的过程中。历史学者熊秉真教授将从比较的角度，探讨中国与西方、古代与现代对于摷菙与撏鼣概念的差别，并提出中国文化中的撏鼣所具备的正面意义。社会学者郭建文教授、中国思想史学者王昌伟教授，将从不同的角度进行跨领域的回应。

This is NOT a medical conference. "Remembering" and "forgetting" are both medical and cultural/social concepts. The processes of knowing ourselves, the time and space in which we exist, our past, present and future, are inextricably linked to the processes of "remembering" and "forgetting." Historian Hsiung Ping-Chen will draw comparisons from China and the West, from antiquity and modernity, in relation to such concepts. Positive meanings of "forgetting" in the context of Chinese culture will then be presented. Sociologist Kwok Kian Woon and Chinese Intellectual historian Ong Chang Woei will respond to the presentation from different perspectives.

“红毛”，用福建话念起来叫“Ang Moh”，是所谓“红毛人”的简称，如今在本地泛指白种人。他们的肤色与新加坡一般民众不同，但如果他们开口用华语交流，这层外形造成的距离感或许就被微妙淡化。这些能讲华语的“红毛”究竟和我们如何融洽相处？他们又如何看待别人加诸在他们身上的目光？眼看他们用流利的外语在新加坡自在地生活，华语大多讲得支支吾吾的我们，心里是否感到惊讶或者不服气，觉得为何“红毛 酱（这样）也可以”？

论坛邀请三位在本地生活的西方人士，分享他们在岛国使用华文华语的跨文化经验。
